Twin Myths
I decided to do a post about twin myths. Seems like everyday, I see something about someone wondering if they're pregnant with twins because their husband has twins on his side, it skips a generation, or that if twins are in separate sacs, that they are automatically fraternal
Myth: Twins skip a generation
Fact: Dizygotic or two-egg twinning passes down the female line from generation to generation

Myth: You can't possibly nurse twins:
Fact: I'm living proof that you can absolutely nurse twins. Yes, it can be challenging (we dealt with nipple confusion, refusal to latch) but with support, you can do it!
Books to read: "Mothering Multiples" by Karen Gromada
Myth: Since husband has twins on his family, you're more likely to have twins:
Fact: Identical twins are just a "fluke" and fraternals happen when the mother releases two eggs, which the father has no bearing on

Myth: If babies are in separate sacs and have separate placentas, they are fraternal:
Fact: About 30% of babies that are in their own sacs and placentas are identical. Only way to tell for certain is a DNA test:

I hope that clears up some up of the common twin myths, which, before I had twins, I bought into as well.
Speaking of twins, mine are awake!
