    Trip to L&D

What a crazy past couple of days...

Well, I go to my Dr's appt on Thursday. All's well, except that I'm dilated 2 cm. He immediately tells me to go to the hospital. I'm there for observation and it turns out that I was having contractions every 10 minutes, not good.

I go for an u/s to make sure that the boys are ok. They are doing fine. They have enough amniotic fluid, cords look good. They weigh 2 lbs 9 oz and 2 lbs 10 oz.

So, they go ahead and give me a shot of steroids to help mature their lungs in case I give birth to them soon. They also give me some IV fluids. Dr decides to keep me overnight.

Couldn't sleep well at all. I was still on IV fluids so it was difficult to get comfortable when there's an IV in my hand. Then because of the fluids, I had to go pee every 15 minutes. I probably fell asleep around 12:30am. Woke up an hour later to get my vitals taken. Couldn't go back to sleep, was awake til about 5am. Decide to watch some TV. Fell asleep around 7am, and was woken up at 7:30am for breakfast. So, I just decided to stay up.

So, now I'm on strict bedrest aka house arrest. So because of this, Kalynn is going to daycare on Monday. I'm going to miss her but I think she will do fine. She knows 2 kids there already. And she didn't want to leave! It's going to be so weird without her every day til about 5.

Monday, I have a Dr's appt at 3:15. I will probably see him twice a week until things are stable.

    Anyway, that's the news.

    Yay!!

So I had taken the one hour GTT to test for Gestational Diabetes. Unfortunately, women who are pregnant with twins are 2-3x's at risk for GD.

I failed the one hour. So that means I had to take the 3 hour which is NO fun. Bill couldn't go with me so I had to take Kalynn with me by myself. I had to get there right at 8am. They take my blood, then I drink this sugary drink. So, Kalynn and I leave and find that there is a park behind the hospital. We hang out there for an hour and come back. Took my blood again. Went back to the park. Took my blood again. Went back to the park and then took my blood again. A total of four times!!

Kalynn was VERY good. She was very interested watching the blood go into the tube.

Anyway, I got the news that I PASSED!!! I am not diabetic!!!!!! Woohoo!!!!!

    Update from my appt

Kalynn's actually quiet so I have a few..

Had my appt yesterday! I REALLY need to take it easy..I'm 25 weeks and measuring 36 weeks. FYI that means I'm as big as a woman who's carrying one baby at 36 weeks. And becuase of that, it puts me more at risk for pre term labor. So, when I see my Dr in a couple of weeks, I'm going to get steroid shots to mature the babies' lungs. I'm afraid about how much BIGGER I'm going to get! And not sure how my uterus will take it..Dr. said it can only stretch so much, which can cause pre term labor.

Anyway, I've been trying to take it easy, it's just been very difficult the past week. Trying to keep those babies in there! If we can make it to 34 weeks, they will do very good.

    My trips to L&D

Had a rough past few days.

Friday we went to visit our friends. While we were there, I started getting cramps, more painful than they've been before. So I call the Dr and he tells me to go to the hospital. It's just my uterus being irritable. I'm 1cm dilated but that's pretty normal for 2nd + time moms. I was released.

Today (Sunday) more painful cramps plus lots of pressure. I wait til about 4pm to go back. Again, everything is fine. The Dr said to be concerned if there's bleeding and REALLY painful cramps (like real contractions). He said it's normal for me to have cramping and pressure because #1) it's twins and #2)I've already had a baby. And the nurse said it's going to get worse as the babies get bigger..

So, looks like I'll be having these cramps for quite awhile..But as long as they stay in there and they're healthy and big, it'll be worth it!
