    I'm Glad They're Mine Too

The life of a SAHM with twin boys and a 4 year old little girl.

    Wednesday, January 31, 2007

So I had to take Ronin to the Dr's. Apparently one of my hairs got wrapped around his little toe :( It's infected but the Dr doesn't want to give him antibiotics though (which I LIKE)

Anyway, I was worried about Ronin's weight gain and I worried for nothing!!! He's 11 lbs 14 oz!!!!! Yay momma's milk!!

    Tuesday, January 30, 2007

So excited!!! We got approved for a minivan!! Woohoo!! This weekend, we're going to start looking.

I'm sure I'm being paranoid..I'm just nervous about the boys' Dr's appts. It's Feb 13. I'm nervous that Ronin hasn't grown that much. My milk supply is good, but Ronin just will not nurse for more than 10 minutes. I keep reminding myself that he has plenty of wet diapers. Dirty diapers, both only go once a week (which is normal, Kalynn was the same). He'll only nurse for 10 minutes, and he's content. He won't take anymore. I"m hoping he's AT LEAST 11 1/2 lbs. BF'ed babies should gain at least 1 lb a month, and 1" in length a month.

Ryker, I'm not worried about. He's a big chubba!!

We had a pretty good weekend!

A friend of ours that live down the street said "We'll see you at the party tomorrow!" I said "Umm..what party?" They forgot to inform us of their little boy's first bday party! So we went there yesterday. Journey, Kalynn and Andrea had a blast! They played Princess Tea Party, it was too cute.

Kalynn has been so funny lately. We were watching a show about quads and the narrator said something about them growing like they would in the womb. Kalynn said "Why are they going to grow in the room?" There are times that Kalynn is SO SLOW, so I say "Kalynn, you're slow as Christmas!" Yesterday, we went out to dinner and I was nursing Ryker so Karla was going to take her and Journey. Kalynn said "Come ON Karla! You're slow as Christmas!" She saw the newspaper on the driveway, took it, and informed me that she was going to read the newspaper when she gets up. She just cracks me up with the things she says!

On a serious note, Kalynn has been going to speech..Her speech teachers are thinking about dropping her. They think she is too bored and her speech is clear. Um...are we talking about the same kid here?? I don't think she's clear! Her 3 and 4 year old friends speak clearer than she does! But Bill knows about special ed, so I'm going to let him handle it.

    On to the boys..
Last night wasn't too bad! Both boys woke up around 4am. I fed them. I usually feed them separately, it's easier to do that so I can go back to sleep heh heh. They went back to sleep and slept til about 7am. They're napping right now.

    OK, maybe not..Ryker's getting fussy.

This is a pic that Kalynn took
    Nursing Ryker and holding Ronin:
    OK! Back!!

So, some things have been bugging me. I go on this message board for twins. What really bugs me is that people are so hung up about getting their babies to be independent. They're always worried that they're spoiling their babies by responding to their needs by heaven forbid, holding them. WHY?? Babies aren't supposed to be independent. A friend on one of my message boards put it wonderfully.. She said "if babies were meant to be independent, God would've made them walking and making their own peanut butter sandwiches when they were born". Babies NEED us. They will have plenty of time to be independent.

    OK! Off of my soapbox.

Anyway, no real plans for this weekend. I plan on taking Kalynn to McDonald's tomorrow for some Mommy and Kalynn time. But other than that, not much else!

    I got some pics..Next post

The rest of the week wasn't too bad! Just busy. It's been nice since the boys are napping regularly. At one point, all 3 kids were asleep!! So, I spent that time getting laundry done.

OK, I'll post later...Time for "chi chis" a my dad called it LOL

    Tuesday, January 23, 2007

Man, the past few days have been crazy. Both boys have been little fuss buckets. I don't know what's going on!

Sometimes, I feel that it'd be "easier" with one baby. Don't get me wrong, I love having twins, but there are days (like yesterday and today) that are just so overwhelming. During the day, I barely have time to go to the bathroom or even eat lunch. Sometimes I feel like I'm being pulled in all different directions. But, like my mom said, there will be good days and bad days.

Anyway, I better go to bed while the gettin's good. Both boys are asleep.

This past week wasn't too shabby!

    Wed, we got SNOW!!

All the school districts were closed except Bill's. I was none too happy. Bill went to work but he got there ok.

Kalynn wanted to play outside so I let her. She had a BLAST!

The rest of the week wasn't too bad, besides the weather.

The boys are asleep right now, so that's nice!!

Yesterday we went and visited my dad in Forney. I enjoyed the visit, and I think dad and Allie did too, or at least I hope so! LOL

Last night when we got home, I rocked Ronin for not even an hour and he went to sleep. He slept from about 11pm til 6am!! SO happy about that. Hopefully, he'll get to the point where I can put him down and he can go to sleep on his own. I will not let him CIO (cry it out) so that is not an option. And, even if I did do CIO, most books will tell you that under 6 months is too young.

OH! On to good news!! We will be getting a minivan!!! We are getting a nice chunk of change from the tax refund, plus the $$ we have left over from Christmas. I am SO happy that we are going to get one! It is such a tight fit in the Camry. It drives me nuts when Ronin cries and I can't do anything about it.

    Anyway, it's feeding time..Gotta go

    Sunday, January 14, 2007

Woohoo! We had another great night!! I put Ronin down on his tummy and he slept til about 7am! He slept in the cosleeper. It was SO nice to have our bed back.

    Hope everyone is staying warm!

    Saturday, January 13, 2007

    Pics!

    OK, first.

Allie, this is what I was talking about:

This is a cosleeper..It attaches to the bed, and the babies are right there. We got the big one because it's big enough for the twins

This is a mini cosleeper (from the Arm's Reach website: www.armsreach.com)

    Kalynn being silly:

    Pics of the boys!
    Ronin in the sling

    Ronin rolling over:

We had a pretty good week so far. The boys are continuing to set a predictable pattern, which is nice.

So, Dr's etc tell parents not to put babies on their tummy. Well, that's the ONLY way that Ronin will sleep. He's been in our bed. I"m nervous about putting him in his own crib. So last night, I put him in the cosleeper and he slept for a good 6-7 hours!! Maybe in a few days/weeks I'll be brave enough to put him in his own crib. That's one thing that AP (attachment parenting) advocates, but for us, I feel it's better for everyone to be in their own cribs/beds. I did the same thing with Kalynn, she slept with us until she was 3 months, which was when she slept through the night. I like having my bed to myself. And having the evening alone when everyone's in bed too.

Yesterday was pretty good. Kalynn went to Mimi's house. Then after that, we went to dinner with a couple of friends. I am SO glad I have a sling in the car. Ronin likes to be held A LOT (which, I don't mind at all), so I put him in my sling and I can do things (like right now, he's in my sling). When we're out, when he gets cranky, I can put him in the sling, and he's happy as a clam!

I got some more pics, I'll post those next.

    Few pics:

    Allie and Dad

OK, Hopefully you guys will read this!

#1: Allie, I got the book I told you about! Next time we see you guys, I'll give it to you then.

#2: Dad, I have pictures that I forgot to give you guys. They're Christmas pics of the boys and Kalynn.

    Forgot to mention this!! Milestones

Forgot this one piece of important information!! Ronin can roll over from stomach to back!!! He did it on Christmas! He is also beginning to coo. He LOVES his Baby Einstein play gym and coos there!

Ryker has been cooing for the past few weeks. It is the cutest thing when they coo!

BTW, mom, I think you should start a blog.

    OK, really going, gotta nurse.
We had a pretty good week overall!! I think we're getting into a routine/schedule of sorts.

The boys wake up for a bit, and then they nurse. Shortly thereafter, they take a nap. Wake up to nurse, play for a bit, another nap. And that's pretty much it.

Ronin sleeps much better on his tummy, but I don't feel quite comfortable letting him sleep like that in the nursery, so he's still with us. Ryker is in his own crib and sleeps from 9pm til about 4am. I nurse him and then he sleeps about 3 more hours.

We also had a pretty good weekend overall! We went out to eat on Friday. I was NOT happy with Kalynn's behavior. One of my biggest pet peeves are children running around in restaurants. Not only is it rude, but it's also dangerous. Well, Kalynn was one of "those" kids. Journey and Kalynn kept running around this table so they could see Journey's little sister. And, Bill and I had babies, so it was hard to discipline her from my chair. But finally, she sat in her seat.

Saturday, our friends Naomi and Chad came over. They have a little girl that's 3 weeks younger than the boys. She gave me a lot of great suggestions for Ronin's reflux. Her little girl also has reflux. Sunday, we went to this consignment store and got Kalynn some clothes and some 6-9 month clothes, since we have tons and tons of 3-6 but not any of that size.

Kalynn and I went to the grocery store the other day. While the man was taking our groceries out, Kalynn proudly announces that she has twin brothers. The guy was like "Better you than me" Uhh..yeah, I'm glad it's me and not you. So there. I said "you know, having twins isn't all horrible like people make it out to be" Then he asks me if we're done. GEEZ! That's a little personal isn't it??

And lastly..I am now back on WW's! I have also started to run. I'm having a hard time realizing that I can't do as much as I used to. But I'll get there. And the cool thing about WW's and nursing is that I get extra points!! I get 38 points for one day! Woohoo!! This week, I lost FOUR lbs!!!

Anyway, I better go. It's time for babies to nurse and I need to get laundry done

    What a day!!

Uggh, so the night before was NOT fun. Ronin was super fussy. I'd rock him, he'd be asleep, I'd lay him down and bam! He's awake. I got up again, rocked him, and tried to put him down, no luck. Rinse and repeat til about 4am.

I ended up going to the livingroom, putting him in the pnp and sleeping in the livingroom.

Kalynn woke up around 9am. I tried putting her down for a nap but she didn't sleep. That evening, I was thinking about going out to eat, but Kalynn was in a HORRIBLE mood. She cried, screamed, threw tantrums, and just wasn't a pretty picture. So I decided against going anywhere. Good thing too. At one point, all 3 kids were screaming and crying. I felt like running to my room and locking the door. I sent Kalynn to bed (after her screaming "I'm not tiiiiiirreeed!!!" She went to sleep a few minutes later.

Last night wasn't too bad. It only took me a couple of times to rock Ronin to sleep. He got up 2x's to nurse but hey, I'll take it.

Thank goodness I have one good sleeper

    There you go! Posting...

    Attachment parenting

So, I've been introduced to AP (Attachment Parenting). I pretty much do this anyway.
    http://parenting.ivillage.com/baby/bparentstyle/0,,489j,00.html

It's pretty much following cues, breastfeeding, babywearing (slings), bedsharing, and no spanking..

We do cosleep but that's only until they can sleep through the night. I follow their cues, I don't force them to do something because an arbitrary source says they should do this or that. Spanking, I admit, I have done this, but it doesn't work for her. I spanked her once, and she laughed and hit me back. Then what?? Spank her harder?? What is that teaching her? You piss me off and I'm gonna hit you harder? Sure it works for some kids I guess, but she is a different child.

AP does NOT mean the child takes over. It means, for example, when the boys are say, 6 months old and they get into a breakable. I remove the breakable and put it somewhere where they can't get it. It means having realistic expectations for their age. And Kalynn is FOUR. Not 6, not 8 or even 14. She's going to be a little pain sometimes, and do things that we find inappropriate. She's still learning but that doesn't mean she won't ever do it again. She will. Just can't expect her to be perfectly behaved all the time. I have to remind myself that.

I'm not perfect, I make mistakes. I'm still learning. So, all I can do is try my best.

Anyway, that's it..I'll get pics up later.

    Bill's back to work :(

    Uggh..I am so tired..

Bill went back to work today, so I tried taking on the night duties by myself. Ryker went to bed in his crib and woke up once to nurse

Ronin however, was SO fussy and cranky. I'd rock him, he'd be about asleep, put him down in the cosleeper. Few minutes later, he'd be crying. Rinse and repeat. Finally, I asked Bill if he could sleep with him, Ronin loves to sleep with daddy. But no luck. FINALLY he fell asleep for a few hourse. Then he woke up at 4am, I rocked him, got him back to sleep. Woke up again at close to 7am. So we just got up for the day. Ryker woke up too.

So, yeah, just a tiny bit tired.

I am hoping that he'll go to sleep on his own. I don't believe in CIO (cry it out), so that is not an option. I don't like "baby trainers" either (what is he? A dog??) He's only 6 weeks adjusted, so it may take him awhile.

    Happy New Year everyone!!!!!

    Sorry I've been MIA..

I have lots o' pictures, so be patient with me!

Christmas went well! Kalynn refused to go to bed, and both boys were fussy. Finally, 2 out of 3 kids were asleep so I got things done.

We all woke up early, and opened gifts at our house. Then went to my mom's, grandma's, and lastly to my Aunt LInda's house. Kalynn and the boys made out like bandits!

For New Years, we did nada. I just made some snacks, we played my 80's Trivial Pursuit and hung out (BTW, guess who won? Bill LOL )

The boys are doing well. Ryker pretty much sleeps through the night. He sleeps in his crib and he'll sleep til about 6am. Then I'll take him into bed with me. Ronin still needs help. I'm not worried, since his adjusted age is only 6 weeks.

Tomorrow, Bill goes back to work..It was nice having him here. But now, it's back to the grind so to speak. Back to the days where I don't have time to eat or go to the bathroom.

OH, I did join WW's. I get to have extra points since I'm nursing so that's nice. The extra points is for a singleton, and someone on WW's said they'd do 20 extra points for twins and see how that goes.
