    I'm Glad They're Mine Too

The life of a SAHM with twin boys and a 4 year old little girl.

Today the boys had their therapy appt. They are doing ok, she did have a few concerns:
-When Ronin stands up (with help) his feet are pointing outwards
-Ryker is very stiff from his waist down,
-Ryker isn't babbling as much as Ronin. Ronin "says" more stuff.

But the good thing is that Ronin is about caught up to his chronological age

So, these are things that we'll just watch..

She also noticed Kalynn's sensory issues. She suggested that I talk to the diagnostician at her school, so I will do that.

Just FYI, there is a computer virus that's being sent. It'll say "you've received a postcard from a family member", etc etc. The first thing that tipped me off is that when I usually get e-cards, they will usually put the name of the person who sent it

Here's a link that talks about the virus:

    Hey everyone!

Friday was the boys' Dr's appt. Ryker is 18 lbs 7 oz and Ronin is 16 lbs. So, I felt TONS better that they are gaining weight. We had to see another Dr since our regular Dr was booked up. I was a bit leery since we didn't have good luck with past Dr's. But this Dr was SO nice. She was impressed that I hadn't needed to supplement (I did when they were smaller, but not since then). We had to take their blood to check their iron levels. Unfortunately, they are a little low. She wanted to do a CBC (I think) so we had to go to the lab.

I got the usual comments "Are they twins?" "Are they fraternal or identical?" One lady was surprised I was there by myself with the boys. I told her it'd be a lot harder if I brought my 4 year old, daddy and she were back at home. Another lady asked "How do you live your life?" I THINK she didn't mean it to be rude. Who knows with people.

Saturday, mom took me out for my bday. I got some new running shoes! Then went to dinner.

Sunday, I went for a run to break in my new shoes!

We had a scary moment. We went to Spring Creek for dinner. I gave the boys bits of chicken. Ronin all of a sudden started to cough and choke. Like, choking to where he couldn't breathe. All I can say is THANK GOD I am certified in CPR and I know what to do when someone's choking. I did what I needed to do (I just had to get food out and he was ok). He's fine now, thank goodness. In fact, I think all parents need to get certified in CPR. Never know when you'll have to use it..

Anyway, I better get to bed. Tomorrow the boys have therapy and then Tuesday is my appt.

    Morning!

Tuesday night was my bf'ing support group. I weighed them and sure enough, they gained weight. I felt horrible that they were hungry! But, they're eating well now along with nursing.

Speaking of solids, I wanted to put this link out there for the reason why the AAP, World Health Organization, US Dept of Health and Human Services just to name a few reccommend starting solids at 6 months http://www.kellymom.com/nutrition/solids/delay-solids.html#reasons

I know parents of "old school" don't understand why since we were given solids at like 6 weeks.

The boys are eating well. Ryker prefers to feed himself. Only thing he'll eat by spoon are peas, sweet potatoes and carrots. Otherwise he starts nodding his head and he becomes a moving target!! So I usually give them a finger food along with me spoon feeding them..

However, sleeping continues to suck. I thought we had the problem taken care of since they were eating more, but nope. Sleeping still sucks.

Friday is the boys appt which I mentioned and then I have an appt. I have had this lump in my breast for MONTHS. It's round and smooth, and feels as big as a golf ball. I mentioned it to my Dr, they had a mammo scheduled but then I told them I was nursing and had to cancel it. They wouldn't even do a sono because they say they can't see anything. I called the office a couple of times and told them that I was concerned but no one ever called me back so I felt blown off. So I called another Dr s hopefully, she will do something. I mean, there HAS to be something that can be done.

But after doing some searches on the internet, I found this: http://www.webmd.com/breast-cancer/benign-breast-lumps

It sounds like I have a fibroadenoma, which is benign..So hopefully, everything will be ok..

    Anyway, I better go..Ronin's crying

    Tuesday, July 24, 2007

Uggh, Ryker is still awake. What in the world? I don't think it's he's hungry..They ate A LOT today..Breakfast, was bits of toast and Yobaby Yogurt, lunch was carrots and something else (I don't remember), and Dinner was broccoli cheese rice and peas. Plus, they nurse several times a day..Ryker woke up around midnight, nursed and now he's babbling in his bed. I tried rocking him but all he wanted to do is get the remote. So, he's in bed babbling. Hopefully, he won't wake his brother. Great...now he's getting fussy.. I can't put him in our bed because he wants to commando crawl all over the place and get into stuff he's not supposed to. Uggh.. GO TO SLEEP CHILD.

The boys have a Dr's appt on Friday..It's with a new pediatrician. Their regular Dr was all booked up for well baby visits. I am kinda nervous. BF'ing friendly Dr's seem to be hard to come by. I'm afraid that she won't like their weight gains and try to push formula, not realizing that bf'ed babies grow differently. But hopefully, she'll be pro bf'ing. I'm also going to see if I can delay vaccinations or separate them out. Every time Ronin has gotten a vaccination, he has always gotten some sort of reaction to it. It was either a fever, crying all day or a rash.

    Anyway, I better go.

    Crazy past few days!!

Last time I posted, Kalynn was sick. By Wed, she was back to her ornery self.

    Wed:
Got the kids' pictures taken! It was for the boys' 9 month and Kalynn's 5 year. They turned out really well! I was impressed with the photographer, she knew how to work with kids. The times I've been there, they looked like teenagers and seemed like they didn't have a clue about kids. But, I liked this one. She's also a mom so that helped I'm sure. But anyhoo, they turned out really cute. I wish I could've bought all of them!

    Thurs:
The day was spent cleaning and packing. Finally got everything packed and headed to Tulsa, OK to see our friends. We got there around 9ish.

    Fri
We went to the Riverwalk, which was really neat! Got lunch and then the girls played in the fountain dealie. After that, girls took a nap and then went swimming. After that, we dropped the girls off with Karen (Karla's sister) and she watched them at the mall playarea and we went to eat. Dinner was good! It was the first time that we put Ronin in a high chair and Ryker in the bumbo seat (he can't sit up on his own for very long). There was music playing and Ronin was just dancing to the music, it was too cute.

    Sat:
Went to lunch and then headed home. The trip back was a bit more difficult than the trip to. Kalynn had to go potty seemed like every 30 min. I think part of it was because she wanted to stop and get a treat, to which we said no of course, but that didn't stop her from trying. She'd say "I peed my pants! I have to go potty!" Then we stop, she's dry as a bone and she didn't go potty. Then 30 min later, "I REALLY have to go potty". We stop, she goes and we're back in the car. Then 30 min later "I peed my pants! I have to go potty!" Sure enough, she did and went potty. Then we were close to home and she had to go potty AGAIN. It was just so frustrating..

It was a good visit overall. I just felt bad because Kalynn was acting out. She was being mean to Journey, refused to listen and just overall defiant. Fortunately, Brandon and Karla were understanding and they helped out with Kalynn being referee, etc, which was nice.

    Sun:
My birfday! Didn't do much. We went to my friend Lisa's little boy's bday at Pump it Up. We got there and the music was loud and Kalynn FREAKED out, and put her fingers in her ears. A lot of people say that their kids did it and outgrew it. With Kalynn, I think it's different. It's like she can't function when it's too loud. And it seems like it's getting worse. Anyway, after a few minutes, it was time to go to another room. This room wasn't as loud and she did MUCH better. In fact, she had a blast!

After that we went to my birfday dinner. We went to Red Lobster. The boys had a good dinner I think. They had bits of biscuit, some mashed taters and some applesauce.

Speaking of which...I felt SOOO bad. The past few weeks, the boys have been waking up every few hours. Then, I took them to my boobie meeting and found that Ryker had lost some weight. My milk supply is fine. So, I finally figured out that perhaps they were hungry for more solids. So, the next day, I gave them 3 meals a day plus a snack. Sure enough, they slept better! So, now they get 3 meals a day, which includes foods that they can pick up themselves, and some baby food, snacks which include crackers, cheerios or puffs.

Anyway, I just felt like the world's worst mom, that they were hungry!! Although last night, they woke up 2x's, don't know what that was about.

    Anyway, that's it..

It's been a couple of days!

Monday, I went to my dad's houseto help Allie. I had to leave a bit early because the boys had therapy at 2.

Today, I was supposed to go over there but Kalynn has been sick. She came in my bedroom at 7am saying she didn't feel well. I kinda blew it off, because sometimes she says that and she's fine. We were in the livingroom and sure enough, she upchucked. Yuck. And she's been going to the potty a lot if you get my drift. It was bad. At one point, she was on the toilet while I held a bucket. So, I've been spending a lot of the morning and afternoon cleaning stuff up. I still need to do some laundry too.

I had another dream about grandma. I feel like I got another "visit" from her. I did some looking back and it seems like I get dreams around the same time of the month, which is a few days before she passed away. And it's usually the same thing, she's there but I know she's passed. And I always tell her that I love her and I hug her. And I wonder...maybe a year before she passed, we were talking on the phone, and she said that when she died, she'd come visit me. I wonder if this is her way of visiting me?

    Sunday, July 15, 2007

Uggh, what a night..The boys woke up several times last night..I don't like CIO because they will wake each other up. So, it's either, A)get them, nurse baby and put him back, or B) let one cry, wake the other one, and then trying to get both babies to sleep. At least, with nursing, I can go back to sleep. '

Yesterday for some reason, their schedules were off. I can usually get them to nap at the same time, but for some reason, their naps were staggered. Arrrghh..sounds like it's happening now. Sometimes, their morning naps will be off but their afternoon naps will go back to normal. But yesterday, that didn't even happen.

Thursday was Bill's procedure. It went well. Everything's fine. The boys got LOTS of attention. I swear, heads would turn everytime the babies passed by. I should charge a fee LOL After the procedure, poor Bill was starving so we went to Chili's and then to Braum's.

Friday, the boys had therapy. Ronin is pretty much caught up to his chronological age. Ryker, however, isn't. He's a few months behind. Fortunately, that's why we are getting therapy, and of course, Bill and I work with him too.

Yesterday, didn't do too much during the day. We went to Johnny Carino's for dinner and that was it!

    Today, no plans..

This weekend, we are planning to go see Brandon and Karla in OK. We'll probably leave Thursday afternoon or Friday morning. I guess we'll see how things go. Got lots to plan for..

Anyway, not much else is going on..

    Thursday, July 12, 2007

Wow, haven't been here in awhile!!

Let's see...Allie's DD Isabella is here!!! She is just beautiful. She was born July 7 via c/s. She's having a little bit of a rough start with bf'ing, but she's hanging in there and doing awesome..

    It's been a busy week!!!

    Sunday:
    visited Allie in the hospital

    Monday:
    Visited Allie in the hospital

    Tuesday:
Bf'ing support meeting. They're gaining weight, just like 1-2 oz. I talked to other moms that said that their baby's weight plateaued for quite a bit. So that made me feel better. Sometimes I get that fear that they aren't getting enough. But they having enough wet and poopy diapers, and they're happy for 3 hours or so til the next feeding.

    Wed:
Ryker had an opthamologist appt..I haven't really mentioned this because I'm afraid of the comments to be honest. Usually, it's from people who aren't in my shoes. I should just let it go..Anyway, Ryker has NF1. He had an MRI last month. I've been calling 3 friggin' weeks for the report and no one ever called me back. But I knew they'd have it at the opthamologist clinic..

It was ok, but there is a little bit of an abnormality which apparently is common in NF1. It's "optic nerve tortuosity". From reading, I"m gathering that his optic nerve is either bent or twisted. It's not affecting his vision, but they want to keep an eye on it by having him do MRI's every 6 months. I'm sure they'll do it like they did Kalynn with her optic glioma--We were doing every 6 months and then when every MRI was stable, we'd do them every year. But the opthamologist did the exam and he's in the clear. His optic nerve looks great.

    Thurs:
Bill has umm..an appt. We'll just leave it at that. I need to go get him afterwards. He's having the appt at the hospital where I gave birth to the twins. I want to go up there and show off the boys. They haven't seen them since they were 4 and 5 lbs.

    Friday
The boys have therapy (finally). That's in the AM. Not sure what we're going to do after that.

    Then the weekend, not sure.

    Anyway, that's pretty much it!

    Friday, July 06, 2007

    Afternoon!

Not much the past few days. Didn't do anything for the fourth. Just hung out here and had our own BBQ at the last minute. We didn't even see any fireworks.

Yesterday Brandon and Karla came into town again, which I was secretly glad that they did..Hung out with them and then went out to dinner. We're hoping next week we will come up there and visit them. Still sad that they moved away.

Today, probably not going to do anything..

Last night sucked again. They kept waking up every few hours. I am thinking maybe it's a growth spurt? It's about time for one.

Anyway, not much else to say

    Tuesday, July 03, 2007

    Morning!

Yesterday, Brandon and Karla (they moved to OK last week) came into town. We went to dinner. . It was really nice to see them! Although I'm still bummed that they moved. Hopefully, in a few weeks we can go see them.

Last night was not fun. For some reason, they boys kept waking up. And the funny thing is, is that they were little piglets yesterday as far as solids go! And they are almost getting the hang of sippy cups. I have some Nuby sippies. The top part is really squishy like the nipple of a bottle. Ronin's getting the hang of it. Ryker..well, not so much. Just gotta practice wit them more.

Speaking of which, I am really not pushing the boys to eat solids 3x's a day like some of their peers. I waited until 6 months (which is the AAP recommendation to help prevent food allergies and diabetes), but really, they only get it MAYBE 2x's a day. It's supposed to be in addition to BM/formula NOT replace it. This drives me nuts, I see posts on my parenting boards from moms saying that they want to cut down nursing/bottles for food. NO, MOST of their nutrition should come from BM/formula, not the other way around. OK, off my soapbox!

OOh, mail is here! Too bad I didn't order anymore diapers haha.

    Anyway, I better go

    Sunday, July 01, 2007

    Busy past few days!!

My brother Stephan is married. Finally, heehee.

Thursday was the rehearsal and the rehearsal dinner. I was a little afraid of how Kalynn would do at the wedding because she didn't want to cooperate. After that was the rehearsal dinner. It was nice being with our family and with Kindra's family.

Friday was the wedding. It was beautiful, and Kalynn did a good job. She didn't get a nap so I knew that she would start misbehaving.. And she did. She was tired, overstimulated, overwhelmed, and everything else in between. At one point during the cake cutting, she was putting some creamer into her punch. A man went up to her and said that it was for coffee. She FREAKED out. We had been talking to her about strangers and how we don't talk to stranger unless mommy and daddy are right there. So, I think that was a huge part of it..he was a stranger and he talked to her. I finally got her settled down and then she freaked out again when she saw him again. So Bill took her.

Saturday, we went to our Aunt Ida's house for 4th of July celebration. It was fun! We got to go swimming for 30 min until it started lightening. The boys got to go swimming for the first time. Ryker wasn't too thrilled but Ronin LOVED it.

Today, didn't do anything. Just laundry. I need to clean tomorrow. ECI is coming out to do paperwork for the boys to start OT.

Next Saturday is our 6th wedding anniversary! Usually we go to Dunston's for our anniversary. We will still go, but will probably just take the kiddos with us..

BTW, here's a link of my shutterfly album of Stephan's wedding
